Boilers Act, 2025

(Central Act No. 12 of 2025)

The Boilers Act, 1923 was enacted to ensure uniform technical standards across India for boiler construction, registration, inspection, and safety to protect life and property. As part of a review of pre-Constitutional laws, the Government found the Act outdated and in need of modernization. It proposed removing obsolete provisions, clarifying definitions, and adding substantive rule-making powers. Consequently, new Act repeal the 1923 Act and regulate the manufacture and use of boilers, mandate registration and accident reporting, and introduce independent third-party inspection authorities to strengthen safety and uniformity nationwide.
